Ms. Madden has had an interesting journey as a writer. Her first novel, OFFSIDES, was published in 1996 by Morrow. 

During our conversation she explains how she made the transition to an author of young adult novels. She recently signed a two book contract with Viking, ensuring her readers that the memorable characters she created in Gentle’s Holler will live on.
